Introduction
I haven’t posted here for sometime and am soon going to overhaul and extend the focus to computing on small/mobile devices. I have to admit that I have spent considerably more time programming on my Android tablet and phone in the past few months.
I sometimes feel a little guilty that people are doing wonderful hardware projects on their Raspberry Pis, so far I haven’t found the time or inclination.
What I currently value the most is having an always on (low power and cheap to run) learning environment where I can experiment with Linux.
Always on Linux system
External servers are relatively expensive, running a full sized PC full-time is relatively expensive/noisy and messing around with the computer you use for work or play can result in time consuming mistakes and re-installs.
Having an always on cheap, quiet computer that runs on an old phone charger and an operating system + storage that can replaced as quickly as an SD card is quite convenient.
I can leave the Raspberry Pi on full-time and make an ssh connection with any connected device to hand (from laptop to mobile phone) when I want to investigate Linux or software issues.
